Bothered by balance problems yesterday, the Toro Rosso team corrected the issue, while noting the insufficiency of improvements to aim higher in qualifying. Jean-Eric Vergne made a mistake that relegated him to the bottom of the Q2 timesheet.

Kamui Kobayashi and Sergio Pérez did not repeat their performances from the Belgian Grand Prix at the end of a tightly contested qualifying session. While the Mexican failed in Q2, stuck behind Bruno Senna on his last attempt, the Japanese driver made it to Q3 but was unable to improve on his Q2 times.

The RB8 visibly accommodated quite poorly to the long straights of Monza, and Red Bull knew it would be difficult to get through the qualifying stage. Thus, while Mark Webber was stuck in Q2 by a small margin, Sebastian Vettel managed to secure the 6th fastest time in Q3.

After this morning's practice sessions, Williams thought they could achieve a good performance during the qualifying. However, Maldonado and Senna were unable to find the right pace for a lap. The FW34 should perform better in the race, and the goal is to score points, although for the Venezuelan starting from 22nd place, the mission may prove to be challenging.

As usual, the Caterham drivers were the best among the three teams at the back of the grid. Heikki Kovalainen thus believes it was difficult to hope for better than 18th place, while Vitaly Petrov thought he could have done better without some brake issues.

The two HRT drivers were happy with the performance of the F112, although Pedro de la Rosa admitted to slightly missing his qualification. Narain Karthikeyan, in fact, managed to get ahead of him for the first time of the year.

Michael Schumacher will start from 4th place on the grid tomorrow, and the seven-time world champion is happy with his performance. Nico Rosberg, on the other hand, had a balance issue, and he will start a little further back, but he hopes to climb up the ranks during the race.

After a controlled qualifying session, it was the McLarens that set the two fastest times, with Lewis Hamilton leading Jenson Button. Felipe Massa placed the first Ferrari in third position while Fernando Alonso experienced a problem in Q3 and will start only tenth. His championship runner-up, Sebastian Vettel, is sixth, while Paul di Resta impressed in fourth place.
