After a Friday marked by technical issues, Romain Grosjean managed to navigate the Q2 lottery before the rain. He qualified in eighth position but will have to start 10th. On the other hand, Pastor Maldonado couldn't do better than 12th.

Marcus Ericsson made a mark today in Malaysia by making his first foray into Q3 in qualifying. He will start from 9th position tomorrow. His teammate, Felipe Nasr, struggled more, being eliminated in Q1 and will start from 16th position.
