After a session mostly interrupted and curtailed, the Finn Valtteri Bottas claimed the fastest time with a reference lap attempted right from the start, ahead of two drivers not usually seen at the top of the standings, namely Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc. Noteworthy are the few laps completed on the wet track by a handful of drivers.
