The day is overall satisfactory for the Lotus team: Romain Grosjean, who executed a thrilling comeback thanks to a one-stop strategy, managed to clinch the podium, while Kimi Räikkönen, well positioned at the end of the Grand Prix, could only finish seventh, struggling with brake and tire management issues.

McLaren experienced two very different races today: while Sergio Pérez had his best race of the season, finishing 5th after managing the strategy, Jenson Button suffered the consequences of his collision with Fernando Alonso on the first lap and was unable to successfully carry out the strategy, before retiring at the very end of the Grand Prix.

No car saw the checkered flag at the Buddh circuit for Caterham: due to a collision with Max Chilton for Giedo van der Garde and a hydraulic problem for Charles Pic, whose race had been largely ruined by a double puncture at the beginning of the Grand Prix.

Even though the overall pace of the Williams is better, the race did not allow the Grove men to bring back points: while Pastor Maldonado was able to glimpse the top 10, Valtteri Bottas suffered from traffic and its harmful consequences on his car and tires.

While it could have been relatively promising, Lotus's qualifying session is mixed: while Kimi Räikkönen, still struggling with understeering issues, can be content with 6th place, Romain Grosjean missed the strategy that had worked for him in recent races and will start far back on the grid.

In a qualifying session once again dominated by Sebastian Vettel, who achieved his seventh pole of the season, the Red Bull driver once again demonstrated his ease in the quick exercise by outpacing the two Mercedes by over seven-tenths. Nico Rosberg therefore leads Lewis Hamilton on the grid. Romain Grosjean didn't even make it past Q1.

At Red Bull, the drivers are not overly concerned about tire degradation: for them, it's the condition of the track that's to blame, but improvements should occur as the track rubbers in, starting tomorrow.

The second practice session of the 2013 Indian Grand Prix produced a hierarchy relatively similar to recent races, with both Red Bulls leading ahead of Romain Grosjean's Lotus. However, KERS issues and tire degradation on the Red Bull cars seem to worry the world champion team, whereas, conversely, the Lotus seems capable of preserving the soft tires.

During an initial cleaning session of the very dusty track, it was the Red Bulls that proved to be the fastest, with Sebastian Vettel leading Mark Webber by two-tenths. Behind the Austrian cars, Nico Rosberg, Romain Grosjean, and Lewis Hamilton were present. The highlight of this session was the mechanical issue, apparently with the gearbox, of Fernando Alonso's Ferrari, which caused him to miss the last half-hour.
On 19/10, 11:46
After two consecutive podium finishes, Romain Grosjean seems to have regained the confidence he had at the beginning of the 2012 season. The Frenchman does not hide his optimism for the future but remains focused on the work for the remaining races, starting with the Indian Grand Prix taking place next Sunday.
