Spa-Francorchamps, a favorite circuit for Aston Martin?
The Belgian track is intimately linked to the team based in Silverstone. Under its various names, the structure has experienced many moments of glory. A brief look back at the team's history since the Jordan years.
Eddie Jordan enters the Formula 1 World Championship in 1991 after three years in Formula 3000, including a title in 1989 with Jean Alesi.
The first Jordan Grand Prix on the Belgian track is marked by the competitive debut of a young German named Michael Schumacher. Although his race only lasts a few hundred meters, this date of August 25, 1991, will forever be remembered as the debut of the seven-time Formula 1 world champion.
In 1998, after a Grand Prix marked by a pile-up at the first start involving 14 cars and countless spins and collisions, two yellow bumblebees crossed the finish line. They are the two Jordan Mugen Hondas of Damon Hill and Ralf Schumacher who, on August 30th, offered the Silverstone team its first one-two finish in the world championship.
In 2009, the team is called Force India and achieves a feat by securing pole position with Italian veteran Giancarlo Fisichella. The next day, despite a solid race, he is defeated by Kimi Räikkönen’s Ferrari. This once again proves that the Silverstone team has a love affair.
