Jamie Chadwick wins the W Series world title again in Austin
The 23-year-old British woman, development driver for the Williams F1 team, wins the W Series championship crown for the second consecutive year.
In 2019, young British driver for Veloce Racing, Jamie Chadwick, became a development driver for the Williams F1 team, she also won the W Series championship in the same year.
In 2020, however, she had not been able to repeat the feat after the championship was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic that affected the entire world.
It is therefore this Sunday, October 24th, 2021, that the 2019 champion won her second consecutive title on the Circuit of the Americas, in Austin, after a race that she dominated from start to finish.
It is on equal terms with her compatriot Alice Powell that the defending champion took the wheel of her single-seater this Sunday. Indeed, the Veloce Racing driver started the weekend with 109 points in the standings, just like the Racing X driver and rival, Alice Powell.
However, it was Jamie Chadwick who managed to win both races of the weekend, thus winning four of the eight races of the season and taking a 27-point lead over her rival with a total of 159 points in the standings, compared to 132 for Alice Powell.
The title of World Champion of the W Series 2021 earns the 23-year-old British woman 15 FIA Super Licence points and $500,000, or approximately €430,400. The Williams F1 development driver now has 25 points on her Super Licence, which could allow her to participate in free practice sessions in F1. In order to hope to participate in the Championship, the current champion must obtain 40 Super Licence points.
