Alexander Albon wants to become the leader of Williams
Former teammate of Max Verstappen at Red Bull between 2019 and 2020 is making a grand comeback in the paddock and showcasing his ambitions.
Thai driver Alexander Albon has once again secured his spot on the starting grid in the premier category. Although he managed to join Red Bull Racing for two years, the one who has two podiums in F1 was quickly demoted to make way for Sergio Pérez.
Reserve and development driver for the Austrian team last season, he now finds a starting position with the British Williams team, replacing George Russell who moved to Mercedes. And the Thai driver has high expectations for his new season.
« I see myself as an important link for the team. I want to become the leader and help develop the car as much as possible. » he explains, adding that his gap year has made him more mature. « I had a year for that. It was short, but perfect to reflect and look at some things to see how I could do them differently. »
His experience in a top team could prove beneficial for Williams, as someone who has suffered the same fate as Pierre Gasly at Red Bull has a determination to make up for lost time.
