The teams reveal the drivers’ running order in Bahrain
The teams are getting ready for the Bahrain tests which begin this morning. Mercedes has just announced the order in which its drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will take their turn.
This Thursday, March 10th, the drivers are on the track in Bahrain for the second winter testing, one week before the official start of the 2022 season.
If the broadcast schedule has been revealed, the teams in the paddock also unveil the order in which their drivers will take their turn.
This Wednesday, Mercedes AMG announced the schedule and days for Lewis Hamilton and George Russell’s appearances. It’s therefore the former who kicks off these tests for the team with eight constructor titles. In addition to his personal preparation, Hamilton will also try to gather as much data as possible about the W13.
In the afternoon, it will be George Russell’s turn to take to the track. The new Mercedes driver will have to adapt very quickly because he only has 11 days left before the first Grand Prix of the season on March 20th.
Her main rival, Red Bull Racing, has also unveiled its schedule for the three days. Mexican driver Sergio Pérez will be at the helm of the RB18 on Thursday before handing over to 2021 world champion Max Verstappen. Pérez will take over on Saturday morning, and Verstappen will conclude the sessions on Saturday afternoon.
Furthermore, three other teams have announced which drivers will be on track this Thursday. For Williams, Alexander Albon will be the first to drive the FW44 throughout the day as well as Saturday afternoon. His teammate Nicholas Latifi will be able to test the car on Friday and Saturday morning.
On the AlphaTauri side, Pierre Gasly will lead the way on Thursday before returning to the track on Saturday morning, and Yuki Tsunoda will take the wheel on Friday and Saturday afternoon.
The British Aston Martin will first send Sebastian Vettel on Saturday morning before giving Lance Stroll a chance in the afternoon. The same program for Friday. However, on Saturday, the order will be reversed.
At Alfa Romeo, rookie Guanyu Zhou will start on Thursday morning, as will Esteban Ocon at Alpine and Charles Leclerc for Scuderia Ferrari. Lando Norris will be the first to start behind the wheel of the McLaren MCL36 on Thursday morning.
