Daniel Ricciardo still cannot drive this Friday morning
McLaren announced yesterday that one of their two drivers, Daniel Ricciardo, would not be able to take the wheel for the start of testing in Bahrain.
Australian driver Daniel Ricciardo was already absent from the track on Thursday, and if he still hasn’t taken the wheel on Friday morning, McLaren cannot say whether he will be present this afternoon.
« Daniel Ricciardo started feeling unwell yesterday morning and even though there are signs of improvement, the team will continue to assess his health before he resumes his duties, McLaren stated in a press release. « Daniel underwent several Covid-19 screening tests as a precaution during this period, all of which came back negative, the driver’s team explained.
The tests in Bahrain are the last opportunity for the drivers and teams to prepare before the opening round next week on the same track. So while waiting for Daniel Ricciardo’s return, it’s Lando Norris who takes control of the MCL36.
The McLaren had suffered from brake issues this Thursday and the strong wind of the moment had caught the drivers. Norris therefore has an additional chance to adapt to these conditions.
