Lando Norris opens up about the braking issues of the MCL36

If Lando Norris was only supposed to drive for part of the day, Daniel Ricciardo’s health condition made him revise his plans. The British driver found himself in control of the McLaren for both sessions of the day. After setting the 6th best time of the day, he spoke about the brake problems that forced him to complete fifty laps.

« I think it’s not the day we really wanted, explains Lando Norris. « It started with the fact that I had to drive all day, since Daniel wasn’t feeling well. So I decided to go for it, it was much simpler that way. But we had some issues with the car, it took a lot of time to fix them and it limited us on the number of laps we wanted to do, continues the British driver.

(A) A bit frustrating, especially here on a track that is really different from Barcelona. We really wanted to try to understand as much as possible the differences and how the cars work here, on a much bumpier track. And I think we did it, we just couldn’t do more. So I did my best. But obviously, some problems held us back and we have to fix them. (F) reveals Lando Norris.

And the brakes of the single-seater really bothered the pilot.

« We just had some issues with the brakes today, it’s as simple as that. I’m not sure about the exact problems, but it’s related to the temperature and that kind of stuff. It didn’t allow us to do long stints. These are things we will solve in the coming days, it won’t be easy, so we’ll see what we can do. » Norris said, hoping that it doesn’t restrict them for the rest of the tests.

We hope not, we hope to find the solution between tonight and tomorrow. It was obviously not something we could resolve today, it’s not that simple. We will make compromises here and there so that we can run for longer. The team is already working on it. Just a lot of work to do, so we’ll see,” concluded Lando Norris.”

The British driver returned to the track on Friday morning behind the wheel of the McLaren, since the health condition of Daniel Ricciardo does not seem to have improved.
