Lewis Hamilton: “I will be a more aggressive driver this season”

Last season was a source of intense tensions in the paddock, especially between the British driver Lewis Hamilton and his Dutch rival Max Verstappen. They clashed several times during Grand Prix races, in more or less spectacular fashion.

If Verstappen has regularly been the author of aggressive attacks explained by his daring driving, Hamilton has not always let himself be bullied, as shown in Silverstone. During the British Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton, racing on his home turf, launched a particularly risky attack in the Copse corner. And the outcome was inevitable, the Red Bull driver ended up being thrown off track, with the final victory going to Hamilton.

These moments of extreme tension have marked the season for both drivers, and Silverstone is far from being the only action-packed Grand Prix. Verstappen narrowly avoided an accident in Interlagos, collided in Jeddah, and their cars ended up stacked on top of each other in Monza.

A more aggressive driving style?

Just a few days before the official launch of the 2022 season, Lewis Hamilton admitted wanting to evolve his driving. “I will be a more aggressive driver this season, you will see,” declared the British driver.

However, he asserts that he is not in a vengeful state of mind. This is not how I envision this season. I’m just trying to be the best version of myself, he confided. I want to see if I have the opportunity to improve my game, to drive at least as well as I did at the end of last season.

And just this collaboration with the team, I know there will be lots and lots of obstacles along the way. But I love it. I don’t have that spirit of vengeance. I think I’ll just try to be the best driver possible this year. I think I can do even more, in the car and outside of it. We still have a lot to do for diversity in this sport, so I will continue to fight for that too. » revealed the seven-time world champion.
