Does Ferrari have the best engine?

On one hand, the Scuderia clinches the pole position and third place in the qualifying. On the other hand, the teams powered by Ferrari have all reached Q3. After two unremarkable seasons for the Italian team, it finally seems to be making a comeback. Some even give the Ferrari engines a two-tenths advantage over the rest of the paddock.

The team principal of Haas, Günther Steiner, whose cars are powered by Ferrari, is convinced that the Italian team now has the best engines in the paddock.

« I think that the Ferrari engine is currently the best, “states Steiner. « I honestly believe it and it gives them credit because they were in the same position as us. They had to endure a lot of criticism about it. But they bounced back, did their homework, and came back with something excellent. » confides the engineer, whose opinion is shared by a good part of the paddock.

For Valtteri Bottas, Ferrari has done a good job, they have taken a big step forward compared to last year, so it’s a significant improvement, without a doubt. On the Red Bull side, Max Verstappen confirms the great evolution of the team. “It’s not just the engine, the team was clearly doing well on straight lines,” admits Verstappen.

French driver Pierre Gasly has also acknowledged the impressive performance of Ferrari engines, revealing that the cars with Italian engines are very fast. The Haas and Alfa Romeo teams are powered by Ferrari and could pose as serious competitors in the midfield for AlphaTauri.
