McLaren “very far” behind for Lando Norris

If Ferrari signed a double this weekend and Red Bull had a double DNF, McLaren is in between. British driver Lando Norris expressed his dismay regarding his fifteenth place in Bahrain.

« That’s where we are, plain and simple,” lamented Norris. « We have to get used to it now. Of course, with the recent seasons, there is a lot of anticipation within the team and among those who watch us. We are not on the right track at the moment, we are very far from it. Not just a little, but very far. We have to start from scratch and find solutions. I’m trying to find them, it doesn’t mean that we will be exceptional next week, but over the next few months, we have to understand what’s happening and how we can improve,” revealed Lando Norris.

As for the state of the MCL36, the driver pointed out a few flaws, particularly the lack of aerodynamic support.

« There is still a Mercedes engine in third and fourth position, but we are not helped, I think we have difficulties in this aspect compared to the others,” Norris admitted. « The reliability is good, I think that’s positive. We don’t have enough support, so the behavior of the car is very poor,” he explained.

« The car and tires are difficult to optimize, we cannot make the tires work properly and we cannot adjust everything well when there is no downforce. We understeer, we oversteer, a lot of things happen and I think that’s the problem. We simply need fewer things to happen. We need more rear downforce, and at the front, it’s just downforce. It seems simple but the problem is difficult to solve. » is the McLaren driver who developed it.
