AlphaTauri has found the issue with the AT03
The first race of the season did not go well for Pierre Gasly, who was forced to retire due to a flaming AT03.
The Bahrain Grand Prix was purely and simply catastrophic for Red Bull, just like it was for its little sister AlphaTauri.
On the 46th lap, Pierre Gasly’s AT03 slows down and the Frenchman is forced to park it off the track. If he manages to move it onto the sidelines, he had to do so very quickly. Indeed, his car caught fire, with no one understanding the reason. Neither the engineers nor Gasly himself could have anticipated such a reaction from the race car.
AlphaTauri almost started the year with both their drivers in the top 10 at the end of the race, but they will have to settle for Yuki Tsunoda’s four points.
“A double in points seemed possible until my car stopped,” Gasly revealed. “The team has identified the issue. The fire meant that the engineers had to work much harder than expected to rebuild the car before this weekend. So we must continue to work hard to understand and develop the AT03 to attack this weekend in Saudi Arabia,” he explained without going into further details. Gasly will still have to be cautious as he could be threatened by future penalties.”
