Yuki Tsunoda: “We are not yet in a position to achieve our goals”
Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda secured the eighth position in the ranking this Sunday in Bahrain, but he is not yet entirely satisfied with the AT03.
Given the last weekend, Yuki Tsunoda had a rather good start to the season by securing AlphaTauri’s first points. However, the little sister of Red Bull experienced some technical issues, especially during the free practice sessions.
« Especially after missing the third free practice due to a hydraulic problem, and we know how crucial every lap counts,” said the Japanese driver. « As the weekend went on, we made progress,” he added.
A few days before the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the driver expects a challenging week, especially regarding the car’s performance. For Yuki Tsunoda, the most important thing is to assist in developing the car so that the team can compete in the middle of the pack.
« Because at the moment, we are not in a position to reach the goals we have set for this season, he said.
On Pierre Gasly’s side, it appears that the engineers have found the source of the fire caused during the Bahrain Grand Prix and therefore need to rebuild the AT03.
