Ferrari believes it is “too early” to give preferential treatment to Charles Leclerc
For Ferrari, it is still too early to consider Charles Leclerc as the number 1 driver of the Scuderia.
At this point in the season, Ferrari is the team to beat. The Scuderia is in first place in the constructor’s championship, and the Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc is leading the drivers’ championship. As for Carlos Sainz, his retirement at the Australian Grand Prix has put him further behind his teammate in the standings, and the Spaniard now has a 38-point deficit to the leader.
However, the Italian team is not rushing and refuses to favor one driver over his teammate at this stage. The principal team of Ferrari, Mattia Binotto, has spoken.
« We have only done three races so far,” Binotto said. » There are still 20 races left, hopefully 19 or 20. So the championship is still long. Our drivers are free to fight and I really hope to witness one of their battles for a good position, first if possible.
So far, Charles Leclerc has won two out of the first three races of the season, namely Bahrain and Melbourne. However, the driver remains cautious and eagerly awaits the Imola Grand Prix this weekend, in the land of the Tifosi.
