On May 8th, Miami will host its very first Formula 1 Grand Prix. The 5.41 km Miami International Autodrome was supervised by Apex Circuit Design. For this Grand Prix, the expected average lap time is 1:35s with an average speed of 217 km/h.

Miami is the 11th circuit used by Formula 1 in the United States, and according to the event director, Richard Cregan, the track is almost ready.

« We are in the final stages of this incredible circuit that will host the very first Miami Grand Prix,” explained Cregan. « We are thrilled with the progress we have made and all the credit goes to the teams that have worked very hard here in Miami, in conjunction with Formula 1 and the FIA, to finish this circuit in a short period of time. ».

The work started in April 2021 in Miami and all permanent structures are completed. As for the barriers, their installation began in February, while the track itself has been ready since March.

The teams are now working on the details of the track and temporary facilities. There have been no compromises on any aspect of the circuit design or construction quality. Of all the first times I have supervised, I have never seen as much effort to perfect the track surface as here in Miami. Everything was exactly as per the initial design, and everyone involved did an incredible job, concluded Richard Cregan.
