Mattia Binotto: “We have the best duo of drivers in F1”

This Thursday morning, Spanish driver Carlos Sainz saw his contract extended until 2024. While discussions were ongoing, the announcement is now official. For the team principal of the racing team, Mattia Binotto, this choice was the most natural.

« I’ve said it several times, I think we have the best duo of drivers in Formula 1, declared Binotto. « And with each race that goes by, it seemed like a completely natural step to extend Carlos’ contract, ensuring continuity and stability. Since he joined this team, he has proved that he has the talent we expected from him, thanks to impressive results and what he makes of every opportunity.

At this stage of the season, Scuderia Ferrari is leading the constructor’s championship. As for the driver’s championship, Carlos Sainz holds the third position with a 38-point deficit behind his teammate Charles Leclerc. This result gives confidence to Mattia Binotto, who also relies on the seriousness of the driver off the track.

« Outside of the car, he is a hardworking worker who pays attention to the smallest details,” explained the Italian. « This has helped the entire group to grow and progress. Together, we can be ambitious in our goals, and I believe that alongside Charles, he can play a significant role in writing the Ferrari legend and creating a brand new chapter in the team’s history,” he concluded.

This announcement comes less than a day before the first sprint race of the season. The Scuderia must now focus on the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.
