Lando Norris: McLaren must “make the most of this weekend”

On the first three races of the 2022 season, the results displayed by McLaren distance the team from any title dreams this year. Although the MCL36s have suffered from brake issues and aerodynamic shortcomings, Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo still surprised in Australia with a fifth and sixth place two weeks earlier.

During the 2021 Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, Norris made it to the podium, the first of his season. However, the Briton is determined to remain pragmatic and points out that McLaren still has a lot of work to do if they want to fight more on the track. According to him, the team’s direct competitors still have the advantage.

« We are not yet fighting for podiums, but with a bit of luck, we will make the most of this weekend,” said the driver. « The circuit is fast, with some iconic features that should be interesting to tackle with the new cars. The sprint always adds a bit of excitement for the fans, so I’m looking forward to seeing how the weekend goes.”

He remains optimistic for the future. Norris also explained that Australia had been a positive weekend for McLaren, but the cars still needed to develop and that everyone had to be ready to seize any opportunity.
