Haas does not rush new sponsorship contracts
Günther Steiner stated that he does not want to rush the sponsorship contracts for Haas after the controversies surrounding Uralkali and Rich Energy. He prefers to take his time and take advantage of his team's good season.
Last week, Haas categorically rejected the reimbursement request from its former sponsor Uralkali, whose contract was terminated at the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Instead, Haas has requested compensation of eight million euros from the Russian company for the loss of profits incurred.
In 2019, Haas had already experienced a difficult period with one of its sponsors. After only 14 races in that season, the president of Rich Energy announced the termination of the contract that linked the company to Haas due to the team’s poor performance.
This is why Haas’ team principal, Günther Steiner, no longer wants to rush sponsorship contracts. There is a lot of movement, but we don’t want to immediately jump on the next one. Steiner stated about a potential future contract, “We want to take our time, be diligent in making the right decision. We are in a good position at the moment. There is no interest in rushing into something that we might regret in six months.”
For the moment, Haas occupies the sixth place in the constructor’s ranking. Although Kevin Magnussen is the author of all the points scored, he still defends the talent and position of his teammate Mick Schumacher.
