This season, the new cars promise a particularly interesting development throughout the year. While Scuderia seemed to have a slight advantage over the paddock since the first Bahrain Grand Prix, Red Bull demonstrated the importance and effectiveness of its development at Imola.

The 2021 world champion team achieved its first double since 2016 at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. This time, Max Verstappen won the race at Ferrari, in the land of the Tifosi. After three retirements in just three races, Red Bull had to react and therefore developed their RB18s faster than expected. And if Ferrari wants to maintain the lead in the constructor’s championship, they will have to do the same.

Ferrari’s team principal, Mattia Binotto, explained that there is still a lot of potential to extract from the F1-75. « We will not bring the biggest evolution in America, but we will have some new elements. », Binotto confided. « We are confident about the level we will have because it is very efficient. We will adjust our car in terms of aerodynamics, and we will continue to work on the dolphin-nosing. It is visible, and there is still performance potential to extract. », he concluded.

At the moment, Ferrari’s strength lies in the corners, given the greater downforce provided by the cars for Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc. However, the Red Bulls are still faster on the straightaways. A setup adjustment will need to be made for the Scuderia ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, which features various straight sections.
