Daniel Ricciardo is eagerly awaiting the Miami Grand Prix

The Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix was far from being a success for the McLaren driver. Right from the first lap, Daniel Ricciardo’s MCL36 collided with Carlos Sainz’s Ferrari sidepod. Ricciardo managed to continue after this incident, but with a considerable delay compared to the rest of the pack. Unfortunately for the Australian, he was unable to make up for this delay and ultimately finished dead last after the retirements of Sainz and Fernando Alonso.

One week before the Miami Grand Prix, Daniel Ricciardo doesn’t hide his joy. For this first edition in Florida, the organizers have gone above and beyond to offer the drivers a track worthy of its name. The construction of the circuit started in April 2021 around the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, and the teams are currently taking care of the final details.

Naturally, as a fan of the United States, Daniel Ricciardo is impatient to test this brand new track. « It’s a challenge,” admitted Ricciardo. « There are circuits that I can fully driver in my head and visualize in a second. I don’t want to say it’s difficult [to concentrate], but a big city… Most tracks are in the middle of nowhere because you just need a lot of space. In Miami, we’ll be racing around the Hard Rock Stadium, and it’s going to be insane! » he revealed, intrigued by the challenge that a new track represents.

« It gives you the opportunity to find something faster than the rest. As a result, the gaps between us could be bigger. » the Australian concluded.
