Verstappen, winner in Miami: “An incredible Sunday for us”
Winner of his third race of the season, Max Verstappen was all smiles after the finish. The Dutchman is closing the gap in the championship and is now only 19 points behind Charles Leclerc, who is still the leader.
Starting third on the grid, Max Verstappen didn’t take long to regain the first place in Miami. The reigning champion managed to build a comfortable lead, surpassing Leclerc by almost eight seconds before the safety car came out. Despite the pressure from the Monegasque towards the end of the race, Verstappen went on to secure his third victory of the season in five races.
« It was an incredible Grand Prix, very physical, but I believe we kept it interesting until the end! I am very happy to win in Miami, it was an amazing Sunday for us.
» exclaimed the Dutchman, with a big smile but visibly worn out physically as he exited his single-seater.
Verstappen is now only 19 points behind Leclerc, who is still leading the championship. The Dutch driver now has one more victory than his Ferrari rival (three compared to two). The battle is on.
