McLaren broke the curfew
The British team used its second and last wildcard of the season.
This season, McLaren no longer has the right to make mistakes and will no longer have the right to work too late. Last night, members of the Woking team were in the pits working on Daniel Ricciardo’s race car.
This is the second time this season that the team members have violated the curfew after Friday night, thus reaching the allowed quota for the season.
McLaren will still be able to work on Wednesday and Thursday evenings since these days are part of periods 1 and 2. More flexibility is allowed during these periods as there are eight and six exceptions permitted per season, respectively.
No penalty was given to McLaren, but breaking a third curfew on Friday or Saturday night would result in a sanction.
