Zak Brown assures that his relationship with Ricciardo is very good

At McLaren since last year, Daniel Ricciardo hasn’t always lived up to his teammate Lando Norris. Despite a victory at Monza in September 2021, his results haven’t always convinced. In Monaco this year, his boss Zak Brown even stated that he didn’t meet the team’s expectations.

A few weeks after these attacks, he was invited to clarify the relationship he has with his driver and indicates that it is very good. « We have an excellent relationship and dined together a few weeks ago in London. We have a great time together and enjoy running together, so the relationship with Daniel has never been better,” he assures.

Zak Brown also added that his comments made towards Daniel Ricciardo in Monaco were honest. (e) I was asked a question and I simply gave an honest answer. » This good relationship was also evident last year when the Australian won at Monza, as his boss got a tattoo of the Italian circuit in the presence of his driver.

Speaking about the Monza epic, the McLaren boss explained that it was an exceptional result obtained by his drivers (Lando Norris finishing second). « I believe that last year in Monza, when we had a strong race car, we could see what Daniel and Lando could do with it. So, I think we need to focus on giving our drivers a better race car. I believe Daniel is highly motivated, he has our full support, and we are having fun. I have an excellent relationship with him. »

Next weekend, the duo will aim to shine at Silverstone for the team’s home Grand Prix, who is currently fourth in the constructor’s ranking.
