Fernando Alonso breaks a record held by Kimi Räikkönen
This Sunday, Fernando Alonso became the driver who has accumulated the most kilometers in his career.
92.636 against 92.684. It’s a somewhat improbable statistic, but it truly exists. It represents the number of kilometers covered in Grand Prix races by two Formula 1 legends: Kimi Räikkönen and Fernando Alonso.
This Sunday, during the British Grand Prix, the Alpine driver who finished in 5th place in the race broke the record previously held by the Finn. He now surpasses the last world champion, who was crowned with Ferrari, by 48 kilometers.

With 92,684 kilometers on the clock, the world champion in 2005 and 2006 covered the equivalent of 2,195 marathons (42.195 km each), a quarter of the distance from Earth to the Moon, and 2.3 times the circumference of the Earth.
If the Spaniard doesn’t experience any mechanical failures, he could easily exceed the 95,000 kilometer mark by the end of the season, even reaching the 100,000 mark if he continues his Formula 1 journey next season (assuming an average of 300 km per race).
In six starts, Fernando Alonso will once again equal Kimi Räikkönen in the number of starts in the premier category of motorsport.
