Max Verstappen tackles Lewis Hamilton
The Dutchman responded to Lewis Hamilton following his comments about his battle with Charles Leclerc at the end of the race in Silverstone.
Two cars fighting at Copse. That’s a battle that brings back bad memories. This year, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton fiercely fought for the final spot on the podium in that famous turn.
In 2021, this turn had been the scene of a very violent clash between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. However, last week no clash occurred despite a very bold attack from the Monegasque. An action that the Briton wanted to highlight.
Charles did a great job, what a beautiful battle! He is a very reasonable driver, clearly very different from what I experienced last year. For example, at Copse, we both passed without any issues, Lewis Hamilton said after the British Grand Prix.
This Thursday, in Spielberg, Max Verstappen was invited to respond to the comments made by his rival from last year. « I think it’s quite good that at 37 years old, one can still learn how to take the racing line. He is learning, so it’s positive. It’s also good for the young drivers to know that you can still learn at 37 years old. »
The Dutch person also indicated that he no longer wanted to talk about this incident, which is now part of the past.
« I think it’s good that he found the rope. We can clearly see in the images what was different compared to last year. I think Charles gave him less space than I did last year, so that says it all. And in the end, he was the one penalized last year, so there’s no point in talking about that either. »
