George Russell receives a reprimand
The British driver walked to the pit lane after his crash in Q3.
The little journey could have been costly. During the third qualifying session of the Austrian Grand Prix, both Mercedes went crashing into the wall. While Lewis Hamilton made his way back to the pits correctly, it was not the case for his teammate.
After the flag was waved by the marshals, George Russell made his way to the pit lane on foot, crossing the track. The action did not sit well with the FIA, who decided to conduct an investigation before summoning the driver.
The British driver received a reprimand. This means that he has no penalty for the rest of the weekend. When he started crossing the track, some cars were still on the track and could have missed the pit entry, causing a dangerous situation. The stewards spoke to the driver and he received a warning, specifies the FIA in a statement.
