Haas has a say in the choice of its driver duo
The director Haas, Günther Steiner, indicates that Ferrari is not in control of selecting the second driver for the American team.
This is one of the rumors circulating in the paddock. According to numerous sources, Ferrari would have the power to decide which driver takes up one of the two seats at Haas. Currently, Kevin Magnussen and Mick Schumacher occupy them, and the latter would have been placed there by the Scuderia. However, the director of the American team indicates the opposite.
“I will not speak about any contract that Ferrari has with us, nor about contracts between Ferrari and Mick, because I do not know the details of them. You cannot conclude that Ferrari is telling us what to do. We have a say in it,” the Italian assured Motorsport-Total.com.
At the start of the season, the guarantee that the German driver would continue in Formula 1 was compromised. With no points scored, whereas his teammate is performing miracles, the situation was not turning in his favor. Especially since many names are fighting for a chance at a seat: Oscar Piastri, Robert Schwartzman, and Callum Ilott, to name a few.
But the recent results of the son of the seven-time world champion have drastically changed the situation, especially the latest race, the Austrian Grand Prix. There, the number 47 driver shone and scored eight valuable points, bringing his total to 12 this season. This is a situation that satisfies his boss, who, being a great enthusiast, wants even more! I would aim for seventh place instead.
