Toto Wolff believes in a Mercedes victory this year
The boss of Mercedes highlights the progress of his team but believes that they are missing very little to hope for a victory this year.
They are getting closer little by little. After a long period of domination, Mercedes finds itself for the first time since 2013 no longer in the favorite status. The new regulations are to blame, as they don’t seem to perfectly suit the German company.
At the beginning of the year, the team managed by Toto Wolff had several issues, one of which was the inconsistency. While Mercedes seems to have eliminated this ugly flaw, the performance of the W13 has also been significantly improved.
Two tenths to go and get.
The resurgence of strength from the eight-time world champion team suggests a promising end to the season for Toto Wolff. « I genuinely believe that we can achieve a victory. The truth is, I think, the answer is yes. I think we are gathering the necessary elements. Slowly but surely. That would be the goal. »
The Austrian, however, remains optimistic about his expectations and indicates that he is missing two to three tenths for Mercedes to secure a leading position. I think it’s a question of pure performance. I believe we have mastered the dolphin dance. I think if we were to go back to Monaco and Baku, we wouldn’t be outstanding, but we definitely wouldn’t have the issues we saw a few weeks ago.
The German team’s return to form was illustrated by Lewis Hamilton’s series of podium finishes as well as George Russell’s impressive consistency in the top 5.
