Jean Alesi doesn’t want to lose the French Grand Prix
The former Formula 1 driver believes it would be a shame to lose the French race, especially considering his uncertain future.
Last edition or long and happy future? As the contract between Formula 1 and the French Grand Prix comes to an end this year, no extension has been signed. This puts the race, which takes place at the Paul Ricard circuit, in jeopardy and the organizers are unsure if the 2023 calendar will include the French race.
But positive discussions are underway, a good sign for the future of French motorsport. When asked about the subject, former F1 driver Jean Alesi believes it would be a shame to lose this race.
“We’re not dead”
« I believe that all the cards are in favor of the Grand Prix, in the sense that I believe that Sunday evening we will have to assess the outcome, he told our colleagues from F1only.
« It’s the show we can have on the track, but at the same time, it’s the show that the spectators will give us because having all the grandstands full as the pre-sales have announced, it’s going to be exceptional! Losing it would be a really big, big shame, but we’re not there yet.

While we are still in free practice, the stands at Le Castellet are far from empty and the race is expected to be a sell-out. Moreover, the fervor of the fans in the stands could tip the balance in favor of Eric Boullier and his team. “We’re not dead,” assures the former engineer and current boss of the French Grand Prix.
