Carlos Sainz named driver of the day at Le Castellet
The Spanish driver was awarded the title of driver of the day after his strong performance at the French Grand Prix.
He made a series of overtakes. And some were very aggressive, like the one on Sergio Perez before his pit stop. Starting second to last, Carlos Sainz was destined for an incredible comeback to score points.
The Spaniard surpassed his competitors one by one until he climbed up to the third place of the Grand Prix before making a tire change. While he dropped to ninth position, the winner of this year’s British Grand Prix set a blistering pace to finally secure fifth place in the race.
He is the only driver from Scuderia to bring points back to Maranello after his teammate Charles Leclerc retired, having gone off track just before the halfway point of the race.
