Lewis Hamilton further cements his place in history
With his podium finish at the French Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton becomes the second driver to achieve a podium after his 300th race.
Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton. These two men will never leave each other. Teammates at McLaren in the late 2000s, the two drivers competed against each other on the track. Over 15 years after the British driver’s debut in F1, the two protagonists still compete in F1 and continue to make history.
On one side, a Spanish driver who could become the driver with the most starts, on the other side, a seven-time world champion with a remarkable track record. Despite all the records he holds, Lewis Hamilton continues to accumulate them.
This Sunday, at the French Grand Prix, he was participating in his 300th race. By finishing on the podium, he became the second driver in history to step onto the podium after his 300th start, behind a certain… Fernando Alonso.
The Mercedes driver also achieved their 187th career podium. Even though they have been comfortably leading in this statistical category for many races, they now have more podiums than Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna combined (186).
