Oscar Piastri confirms that he has not signed a contract with Alpine
Announced as the second Alpine driver in 2023, Oscar Piastri denied the information on Twitter.
The situation is very complicated. In two days, the transfer market has heated up. First, Fernando Alonso has decided to leave Alpine to join Aston Martin.
The French team had to find another driver to replace the Spanish one. On Tuesday, August 2nd, in the late afternoon, Alpine announced that their reserve driver and member of their academy, Oscar Piastri, would replace the two-time world champion.
However, the main person involved published a message on Twitter where he claims to not have signed a contract.
I note that, without my consent, Alpine F1 published a press release in the late afternoon stating that I will be driving for them next year. This is false and I have not signed a contract with Alpine for 2023. I will not be driving for Alpine next year, confirms the Australian.
I understand that, without my agreement, Alpine F1 have put out a press release late this afternoon that I am driving for them next year. This is wrong and I have not signed a contract with Alpine for 2023. I will not be driving for Alpine next year.
