After Le Castellet, Spa and Monza threatened?

After the announcement of the withdrawal of the French Grand Prix from the calendar for the 2023 season, Stefano Domenicali targeted two historic circuits: Monza and Spa-Francorchamps.

One thing is for sure, there will be no Grand Prix of France on next season’s calendar. Even worse, the Grand Prix of Belgium and Italy might also not be present next year. At least, they have not yet been confirmed on the calendar.

Following a question asked about the presence or absence of these two Grand Prix races for the 2023 season, the president of Formula 1 has been firm. No Grand Prix should consider its place as guaranteed, not even circuits considered as historic like Monza and Spa.

At Monza, there will be this year the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the Italian GP. But as an Italian, I always tell them: you have to realize that history is not enough. Monza must do its part, they have to renovate the structure, update a place that is iconic. These places will always be part of the discussions, but on their side, their presence cannot be taken for granted.

Shortly after the announcement of the withdrawal of the French Grand Prix, this statement is enough to excite Formula 1 fans, particularly the tifosi who have a strong attachment to these historic circuits, which often provide a great show.
