The Rodriguez brothers’ helmet replicas for the poleman of the Mexican GP
This upcoming Mexican Grand Prix will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the race. For the occasion, the poleman will receive a replica of the Rodriguez brothers' helmets.
Mexico and unique rewards go hand in hand. Last year, Valtteri Bottas, who achieved pole position, received a replica of Juan-Manuel Fangio’s helmet. For the 2022 edition, the Fangio Foundation wishes to maintain this reward for the fastest man in qualifying.
But, this time, the Foundation wanted to highlight two local legends: Pedro and Ricardo Rodriguez. Both drivers have left their mark on the history of motorsport. Ricardo is the youngest to have driven for the Scuderia, while the latter has achieved victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and Daytona, among others.
“It is a great honor to collaborate once again with the Fangio Foundation in order to offer an invaluable gift to the winner of the pole position of our event,” says Federico González, director of the Mexican Grand Prix.
The Rodríguez brothers are great heroes of motorsport not only in Mexico but also in Latin America and around the world. I’m sure that just like Valtteri Bottas was honored to receive the Fangio replica, the winner of the 2022 pole will be thrilled to retrieve both helmets on this special 60th anniversary of the arrival of Formula 1 in our country.
The Mexican site has been hosting Formula 1 for 60 years. The circuit, located near Mexico City, was renamed Hermanos Rodriguez in memory of the brothers, both of whom died while racing.
