Rankings: Lewis Hamilton returns to the top 5
With his new podium, the British driver gains one position, at the expense of Carlos Sainz.
In the lead, Max Verstappen continues his domination. With a 14th victory, the Dutchman broke the record for points in a season, previously held by Lewis Hamilton. The Mexican event also benefited the home favorite, Sergio Perez, who, with his third-place finish, regained the second position in the standings.
Ferrari, who was struggling, has already lost Charles Leclerc’s second place. A little behind, Carlos Sainz drops one position after Lewis Hamilton’s impressive result, crossing the 200-point mark and now occupying 5th place.
In terms of the constructor ranking, Mercedes is dangerously getting closer to Ferrari. With a 40-point difference, the German team could become the second strongest on the grid if they continue on this trajectory.
McLaren, with Daniel Ricciardo’s impressive comeback, is closing in on Alpine, which has once again been plagued by reliability issues. They are separated by only 7 points.
