The last sprint race of the season takes place this weekend
This weekend, the Interlagos track hosts the Brazilian Grand Prix. A special format is planned for the occasion, with the return of the sprint race.
There were supposed to be six of them. There are finally three. This year, the FIA wanted to integrate six sprint races into this F1 season, but it has been postponed to 2023. The first session took place in Imola. The second in Austria.
The last one will take place this weekend, at Interlagos, on a track that has already hosted this type of event. Last year, Lewis Hamilton made a fantastic comeback from the last position after being disqualified from qualifying for having too wide of a DRS opening.
The sprint race, on the other hand, was won by Max Verstappen. The Dutchman earned 3 points with this victory. This year, the winner will score 8 points, the second-place finisher will earn 7 points, and so on until the eighth-place driver is credited with one point.
The winner of this race will start in pole position on Sunday for the main race.
