The drivers who waited longest to take pole position
Kevin Magnussen secured his first pole position after 141 Grand Prix races. However, he was not the driver who waited the longest.
If some have achieved their first pole position in their first races, others have been more patient. This Friday, November 11th, Kevin Magnussen secured the fastest time in the qualifications for the Brazilian Grand Prix. A first for him and his Haas team.
K-Mag has entered the history books as he became the first Danish to achieve such a feat. He achieved it after 141 Grand Prix. He is the third driver to have waited the longest to obtain it. Only Carlos Sainz (151) and Sergio Perez (216) precede him.
These three men have been much more patient than Giuseppe Farina, Walt Faulkner, Duke Nalon, Mario Andretti, Carlos Reutemann, and Jacques Villeneuve. These six drivers, on the other hand, achieved pole position in their very first race. However, Giuseppe Farina’s achievement should be put into perspective as it was during the first-ever Grand Prix in the history of the sport.
