Charles Leclerc still very frustrated after qualifying
The Monegasque was angry after his disillusionment in qualifying. He was the only driver in Q3 on intermediate tires.
From one garage to another, the expressions were different. At Haas, it was an explosion of joy. At Ferrari, there was confusion and anger. During the final part of qualifying, Ferrari fitted Charles Leclerc with intermediate tires to go out on track. It was a wrong choice as he was the only driver with that tire selection.
He returned to the pit lane to change his mount and went out on soft tires. However, he couldn’t complete a lap as George Russell spun out at turn 3, causing a red flag. By the time the intervention was over, rain had arrived at the Interlagos track. With other drivers already setting times on slicks, it was impossible for the Monegasque driver to improve his position.
« We were expecting rain, which never came. I will speak with the team and try to understand what we can do better in these conditions. But I am extremely disappointed », expressed Charles Leclerc.
There was a great opportunity for us today. We had a good performance with the car. But now, we need to get to work and do everything right for the rest of the weekend.
This mistake forces the driver number 16 to start from the tenth place of the sprint qualifying, scheduled for this Saturday, November 12th, at 8:30 PM.
