Rankings after the Brazilian GP: Alpine gains on McLaren

The situation did not start off in their favor. After the disappointment and tensions of the sprint race, Alpine could have suffered a major loss against McLaren in the constructor’s championship. With no points scored compared to the two units added to Lando Norris’ tally, the gap was closing. However, the main race favored Alpine. The two orange cars retired. The Blues scored 14 points, giving them a 19-point lead in the standings.

Just in front of them, Mercedes dangerously closed in on Ferrari for second place. With the one-two finish, the victory in the sprint race, and both drivers on the podium, the German team almost had a perfect weekend. Now, only 17 points separate them. Anything is still possible before Abu Dhabi.

Among the drivers, Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez are now tied with 290 points each. On the Yas Marina circuit, whoever finishes ahead of the other will therefore surpass them in the championship.
