Alpine catches fire after sprint race

The incident went almost unnoticed. A few moments after the arrival of the sprint race of the Brazilian Grand Prix, smoke was seen on the track where the cars were located. Attentive, Canal+ consultant Franck Montagny spotted the smoke.

Quickly, several people with fire extinguishers rushed towards the single-seaters. On Twitter, several videos of the intervention were published by people present in the audience.

On these, we can see that the Alpine adorned with the number 31 is engulfed in flames, while several people are trying to extinguish it. This does not help the French team’s situation, as they have failed their race.

Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso narrowly avoided a collision at turn 4, and the Spaniard made contact with his teammate on the straight to the pit lane, breaking his front wing. Both cars finished the race in 15th and 18th place, far behind Lando Norris’ 7th place McLaren.
