Fernando Alonso: « After what happened yesterday, we tried to do our best for Alpine »

During yesterday’s sprint race, an incident between the Alpine teammates damaged both cars less than 24 hours before the long race in Brazil. The two teammates collided twice during the race. While Esteban Ocon’s engine had to be replaced, forcing the French driver to start in 16th position, Alonso had to pit to replace his wing, losing positions.

Following a great race for the Enstone team, Fernando Alonso finished 5th in this Grand Prix and Esteban Ocon 8th, both scoring points. In an interview with Canal +, the Spanish driver apologized for yesterday’s incident: “We made only one mistake with Esteban yesterday, we felt sorry about it, that’s why today we tried to give our best for Alpine.”

However, the drivers will have enjoyed themselves. It was a very interesting race. We were on a 3-stop strategy instead of 2 like many other teams. In the end, the last safety car period allowed us to reposition ourselves and I was able to have fun and fight. Both of our cars finished in the points, concludes Fernando Alonso.
