Daniel Ricciardo penalized in Abu Dhabi
The Australian will drop three places on the grid after being deemed responsible for the accident with Kevin Magnussen in Brazil.
Two weeks after the euphoria in Mexico, Daniel Ricciardo made a name for himself, but in a bad way. Struggling throughout this season with his McLaren, the Australian is having a hard time, but still tries to give his all, sometimes too much.
Already, at the Rodrigues Brothers’ Autodrome, he had sent Yuki Tsunoda flying. He received a 10-second penalty. In Brazil, he caused another accident with the surprise poleman Kevin Magnussen. By hitting the Haas from behind, it spun out before subsequently colliding with the Australian’s McLaren.
In the end, both cars retired from the race before the completion of the first lap. After the Grand Prix, the stewards deemed the driver number 3 at fault. They imposed a three-place grid penalty for the Abu Dhabi race. He also received two penalty points on his super license.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix does not start off in the best way for the Honey Badger, who is experiencing his final moments in F1.
