The rumor had been circulating for some time. It became official on Thursday morning, Haas is parting ways with Mick Schumacher for the 2023 season. The driver lacked experience and made too many mistakes. The German driver only scored two points during the 2022 season. In addition to that, he had two high-speed crashes: the first one during the qualifying session of the Jeddah Grand Prix and the second one during the Monaco Grand Prix. The driver is costing the team a lot of money, which is already facing financial difficulties. Despite the progress observed this summer during the British and Austrian Grand Prix, where he scored 1 point each time, it remains insufficient to convince Haas. After two seasons and 43 starts, the son of the seven-time Formula 1 World Champion reacted to his departure by posting a message on social media: “This will be my last race with Haas,” he wrote.

(I) I don’t hide the fact that I am very disappointed by the decision not to renew our contract. Nevertheless, I would like to thank Haas F1 and Ferrari for giving me this opportunity. These years together have helped me grow both technically and personally. And, especially when things have been tough, I realized how much I love this sport, he adds.

However, Schumacher believes that he has constantly progressed and deserves his place in Formula 1. He is not ready to give up.

The subject is far from closed for me. Setbacks only make you stronger. The fire of Formula 1 burns within me, and I will fiercely fight to be back on the starting grid.

However, if he still had one last chance to secure a spot on the starting grid as there was a vacant seat at Williams, Logan Sargeant was announced by the team. He still needs to obtain his Super License after the F2 championship. Rumors are circulating that the German driver could also become a reserve driver at Mercedes.

Shortly after the announcement of his departure, the arrival of Nico Hülkenberg for 2023 was officially confirmed by Haas.
