Zhou to wear special helmet for Abu Dhabi Grand Prix
The final Grand Prix of the season in Abu Dhabi will have a special flavour. Sebastian Vettel will retire, and Daniel Ricciardo and Mick Schumacher will drive one last time for McLaren and Haas. Guanyu Zhou will be wearing a uniquely designed helmet for his last Grand Prix as a Formula 1 rookie.
This 2022 season has held many surprises for us, and one of them is none other than Guanyu Zhou. The only rookie on the grid made his debut with Alfa Romeo, which was undergoing restructuring and had hopes of success with the new regulations. The expectations placed on the first Chinese Formula 1 driver were high, as he finished 4th in the Formula 2 championship in 2021.
However, he quickly managed to overturn this pressure by scoring points in his first Grand Prix with a solid race in Bahrain. While he made a few small errors afterwards, consistency has been his strong point and he strengthens the Italian team’s driver duo by bringing home points when his car allows him to.
Many drivers have worn helmets with unique colors this season for different occasions, Guanyu Zhou wore them during the Italian, Singapore, and United States Grand Prix. To celebrate the last race of his first season in Formula 1, Zhou will wear a uniquely designed helmet.
The key word of this special creation is simplicity. Indeed, similar to Sebastian Vettel’s helmet, Zhou’s helmet features a white background with blue patterns overlaid on it, adding a unique touch to this helmet.
