Tsunoda must be the future leader of AlphaTauri
Red Bull's sister team will no longer have its leader Pierre Gasly at its disposal in 2023, as he will be driving for Alpine next season. Yuki Tsunoda could therefore take his place as leader from his new team-mate Nyck de Vries.
AlphaTauri will have to bounce back in 2023 after a very challenging season this year. The Italian team will be able to rely on its two young drivers to bring them back towards the midfield. Helmut Marko believes that Nyck de Vries, the team’s new recruit, will quickly take on the role of leader and guide AlphaTauri. But what does the Japanese driver, who will be participating in his 3rd Formula 1 season, think?
Focused on the work
“Well, the fastest man will lead the team,” he declared.
Yuki Tsunoda has made significant progress this season. He has made very few mistakes on the track and has consistently outperformed Pierre Gasly in qualifying. Unfortunately, the AlphaTauri has not been very competitive in 2022 and he has not been able to regularly fight for points. The Japanese driver wants to focus on the work he still has to do for the next season. He believes that whoever will be leading the team in 2023 will be the fastest.
