Lando Norris would have liked more than one podium finish in 2022
The Briton was the only mid-grid driver to finish on the podium at this season's Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in Imola. And that leaves him with a taste of"reviens-y"!
This season, Lando Norris carried McLaren on his shoulders. The young driver led his team and enabled them to fight for points on numerous occasions and to compete with Alpine in the constructor’s championship.
In 2022, he finished in the top 8 a total of 14 times, while his teammate Daniel Ricciardo only managed it four times. The British driver is also the only one on the grid – outside of Red Bull, Ferrari, and Mercedes – to step onto the podium. For him, this result was satisfying, but not enough.

A podium always represents something. It represents something to me, and to the team. But one alone is not enough. One, it’s a stroke of luck and all that. We want to feel like we deserve to be there every time, and we certainly deserved to be there, but we weren’t fast enough to be there. We were far from the position where we deserve to be. Once is not enough for me. It’s not good enough work from the entire team, he told our colleagues at Motorsport.com.
For him, the lack of performance and consistency of his car could explain his inability to get back on the podium.
It was quite up and down. There are weekends like Abu Dhabi, where we are fast, and then there’s Brazil, one of our worst weekends of the whole season. In the last two Grand Prix, we went from one of the worst moments of the year to one of the best. So, we still have a lot to learn. But we need to take a step forward next year, and I feel like everyone is willing to make the necessary efforts to do so. Only time will tell.
