Fernando Alonso hasn’t thought about his post-career future
The Spaniard is the doyen of motorsport's premier class. While he's sure to be in F1 for some time to come, he still doesn't know what he'll do once he's hung up his suit and helmet.
At 41 years old, Fernando Alonso is still at the top of his game. In 2022, he proved it once again. Despite numerous mechanical issues with Alpine, he showed that even though he is the senior of the category, he still has a good handling ability. In Australia, he could have achieved pole position, just like in Canada, on a wet track.
Now at Aston Martin, the two-time world champion is still in F1 for several seasons and will continue to write the history books. While his future is secure, he doesn’t yet know what he will do once his single-seater adventure is over.
A feedback on the Dakar?
“I don’t have a plan B. I have been a runner all my life, and I am only good because I haven’t learned anything else,” he confided to our colleagues at Auto Motor und Sport.
« My life has always been devoted to motor racing, and what I excel at in the sport is driving. If one day I have to retire from Formula 1, I will continue competing in other races in different categories.

Getting a win at the Dakar would still be a challenge, because no one has done it in this combination before. But staying at home scares me.
