The Chinese Grand Prix is in talks with Formula 1 for a return as early as this year
These are just rumors for now, but Formula 1 teams could potentially travel to China in April to compete in a Grand Prix.
According to Autosport.com, the race weekend organizers and Formula 1 are discussing a return to the calendar.
If due to the health crisis the event could not take place in the previous 3 years, the Chinese Grand Prix was supposed to make a comeback in 2023. However, in December, it was once again canceled due to the travel restrictions implemented by the country.
Now the situation seems to be changing in China, and a relaxation of measures would allow travel to China within a few months. As a result, discussions regarding the Grand Prix have resumed between the organizers and the FIA.
Could we finally witness 24 races this season?
No replacement had been announced to replace the Chinese Grand Prix despite the rumors. Fortunately, both parties will have the chance to reconsider their decision by the end of January in order to re-enlist the Grand Prix on the calendar! Formula 1 would still have up to 24 race weekends next season…
